WELCOME!
The Log Cabin Museum & Archives are run by the Saanich Pioneer Society.
The Museum is open Saturdays 1-3pm.
We're excited to announce that we're staying open this winter! We'll close when
there's snow on the roads, but otherwise, we look forward to seeing you. We might
even have the fire on, so come learn about local history in a cozy, warm environment!
The Archives are open Mondays 9am-2pm.
(Except Statutory holidays. Opening times may vary by season)
Admission by donation.
We are a not-for-profit Society, dedicated to the preservation and
maintenance of the history of the Saanich Peninsula.
Please check back often to stay informed on our upcoming
Events and Displays.

We celebrate Black History Month with our first Talk & Tea of the new year: "The No. 2 Construction Battalion in WWI".
Ron Nicholson, local Black historian, will speak about the
No. 2 Construction Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force,
was also known as the Black Battalion.
Created on July 5, 1916, it was a segregated non-combatant unit, the first and only all-Black battalion-sized formation
in Canadian military history.
The public are welcome to our Talk & Teas!
$10 non-members/$7 members - payment taken at door.

Thank you!
Thank you to all who came to our Christmas in the Cabin, part of
Christmas in the Village, SVA's Saanichton Community Christmas event.
We handed out a record number of cookie boxes, filled with supplies
for children to decorate their own holiday cookies!
The Tree Trail made for a wonderful way to explore Saanichton Village,
and celebrate the season with families of all ages and descriptions.
We're proud to have been part of this area for generations upon generations,
and look forward to sharing this area's history with future generations.
Another Thank you!
We thank Central Saanich Police Cpl Pat Bryant, Block Watch volunteer Farid, and all of you who came out for our
recent Talk & Tea on scams and frauds.
We had an almost full house for this community presentation!
Farid encouraged all to learn more about Block Watch for their neighbourhood, no matter where you live. Cpl Bryant’s
slides were informative, along with lots of practical advice, examples, and anecdotes, plus ample opportunities for questions. We all left with ideas on how to better protect ourselves and our families.
Based on the positive feedback we heard from those who attended,
we may offer this again - please let us know if you would be interested in attending.
